Rafa Benitez sets Abdoulaye Doucoure recovery timeframe and gives Everton injury latest

Rafa Benitez has updated Everton supporters on the condition of Abdoulaye Doucoure as the midfielder continues his injury absence.

The Frenchman missed his side's last game, the 5-2 defeat to Watford at Goodison Park on Saturday, with a foot problem - which is set to keep him out for a number of weeks.

However, the Blues manager believes that the 28-year-old is progressing well with his recovery and hopes that his key player could be available once more after the upcoming November international break.

The boss told his pre-Wolves press conference: "Doucoure was doing really well in the middle of the pitch, so to lose him in these games is important for any team.

"Even the top sides with big squad, if you lose some key players you suffer a little bit.

"Doucoure is getting better, it seems like he's progressing well. I cannot say how long exactly, but at least a couple of weeks.

"With the international break, hopefully after he will be fine. It's a big miss for us, but at the same time it's an opportunity for other players to show their level."

Doucoure is one of a number of Everton players currently missing through injury.

However, Benitez was coy over whether any other stars would be able to return to action in Monday evening's trip to face Wolves at Molineux.

"We still have two training sessions, he added.

"Some of them are nearly coming back, but I think it's too early to say who will be there. We are waiting for some medical assessments and after we will see if someone else can come back."
