Rafa Benitez sends Man City and Liverpool FC 'clear' Premier League title message

Manchester City don't necessarily need a helping hand to win the Premier League title this month but they certainly wouldn't turn it down when Newcastle United host Liverpool tomorrow evening.

The Blues lead Liverpool by one point in the race for the league trophy and know that wins against Leicester City and Brighton will ensure the reigning champions retain their crown.

But Man City would love Newcastle to help do the job for them when Rafa Benitez welcomes his former club Liverpool to St James' Park.

There have been suggestions that Liverpool hold an advantage during the penultimate round of fixtures thanks to the fact that former managers - Brendan Rodgers and Benitez - have roles to play.

But that suggestion has been put to bed by both Pep Guardiola and Benitez, with the ex-Liverpool manager providing comments that Man City fans will love.

“I am very clear,” Benitez said. “We are professional. My relationship with Liverpool is there. But at the same time when I go to play against them with someone else, we have to do our job.

“(Jurgen) Klopp would do the same in the same position. We have 52,000 fans and we want to do it. I have friends at Liverpool but also at Man City. I have a good relationship with both Guardiola and Klopp. I didn’t want to talk with anyone at any of those clubs this week in case you asked the question.”
