Rafa Benitez has insisted the door remains open at Newcastle United for Dwight Gayle and Jacob Murphy.
The duo are currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion trying to help the Baggies make a return to the Premier League and are both getting game-time at the Hawthorns.
But neither have a buyout clause in their current arrangement at West Brom and winger Murphy is deemed as one that could still flourish in the future.
Both have been linked with a possible swap deal for Salomon Rondon but Newcastle are already reluctant to cough up a big fee for the number 9.
When asked if Murphy still had a future on Tyneside, Benitez told Chronicle Live: "He needed to play, obviously young players need to play and get experience.
"And it was difficult for him here.
"Bringing in Miguel Almiron was even more difficult.
"We spoke about that.
"He is a nice lad and a good professional so hopefully he can do well and then we will consider his future."
Benitez also refused to accept that Gayle's career at St James' Park was over.
He said: "Dwight is doing really well.
"It's good when players are doing well for their teams and you have to consider them for the future.
"OK, you never know what can happen but it's good when they are doing well and enjoying themselves."
