Rafa Benitez has opened up on the tactics he used to help Everton to a battling 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues were behind at the break after Anthony Martial's strike, but rallied following the interval with Andros Townsend finishing off a flowing counter-attack to earn a point.
It could have easily been more for the visitors late on, but Yerry Mina's goal was ruled out after Tom Davies' pass inside the box.
And Benitez has explained why he highlighted the counter attack as a key point for his side in this match.
The Blues boss remarked: "It depends on your players and depends on the opposition.
"You cannot come here with our team to keep the possession and try to attack all the time. You have to try to defend well and play on the counter attack.
"They have so many good players that they will keep the ball and pass the ball. They will be a threat.
"For us, that was the game plan. Make sure we're strong in the defence and have a good counter attack. It's the way when you play against a top side with so many good players."
Crucial to that counter-attacking display were the forwards that Everton used.
Anthony Gordon was brought into the side for this match and lined up alongside Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend in behind Salomon Rondon up front.
And Benitez was keen to praise the effort of all four in getting the Blues the point they deserved.
"Today I think I can praise every single player on the pitch. But I think [especially] the four forward players on the pitch," he added.
"Gordon, Gray, Rondon and Townsend were all working really hard. It's not just that they have to create something in attack, they have to help the team.
"I think that the team was working as a unit, but especially the people up front were helping a lot in defence and also trying to make a difference in attack."
