Rafa Benitez offers Lucas Digne update after latest Everton snub

Rafa Benitez has offered an update on Lucas Digne's Everton situation after the French international was again left out of the matchday squad.

While the Blues have travelled to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, the defender was not among his team-mates for the match.

This followed the left-back being dropped from the squad to face Arsenal at Goodison Park earlier in the week, with it being confirmed shortly after the decision that no injury was involved.

A disagreement with the manager is credited with Digne's absence, but both parties have attempted to play down the situation in recent days.

However, the Everton boss hinted that there could be a way back for his defender soon if he is to keep up his hard work at Finch Farm.

Benitez told Sky Sports: "He’s (Digne) training well and he will have chances if he keeps training in the same way."

Ben Godfrey is again expected to line-up at left back against Palace after what was considered a strong display against the Gunners earlier in the week.
