Rafa Benitez has explained why he included Lewis Dobbin in his squad for Everton's 2-0 win over Norwich on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues were victorious at Goodison Park thanks to a spot-kick from Andros Townsend in the first half, before Abdoulaye Doucoure rounded off the three points with a strike after the interval.
With minutes to go in the match, Benitez gave a Premier League debut to 18-year-old striker Dobbin as he replaced Alex Iwobi.
And the manager explained that it was a reward for catching his eye in training, and he took the time to praise another of Everton's young talents in the process.
Benitez remarked: "I am happy to see Anthony Gordon around, because he's a young player, but also Dobbin.
"He's someone that, when he's training with us, he shows the desire and commitment. These players have to be seen.
"Sometimes you have a player in a training session and you don't appreciate anything, maybe he has nothing sometimes or maybe he doesn't have the desire.
"Dobbin is someone that you notice he's there when he's training."
