Rafa Benitez makes Alex Iwobi form prediction with Anthony Gordon admission at Everton

Everton boss Rafa Benitez insists he retains faith in Alex Iwobi saying: "I can see Iwobi giving us more".

The Blues winger endured a miserable afternoon against West Ham United on Sunday, missing the glorious chance to put the Blues ahead in the first-half as well as struggling to have any impact in the game.

Iwobi, handed a fourth league start of the season, was replaced by Anthony Gordon with just over 10 minutes of normal time remaining at Goodison Park as Benitez's side looked for an equaliser to Angelo Ogbonna's header.

Gordon had starred in the draw with Manchester United before the international break and Benitez has explained that squad rotation will be necessary at Everton.

The Blues boss believes 20-year-old Gordon will continue to improve and that Iwobi can deliver better performances than he did at the weekend.

“I was talking with Anthony," Benitez explained, when asked why he dropped Gordon to the bench.

"He is a player who is very explosive and when you have this, in this case, it is not the main quality.

"He is a player who is learning and growing and can be an impact coming from the bench.

"Iwobi was working very hard today [Sunday] and when he [Gordon] came into the game it was more difficult for him.

"I can see him improving and I can see Iwobi giving us more.

"We can talk about chances or whether it was good or bad, we have a squad and we have to use it and we have to be sure these players are working hard and we support them and give them confidence."
