Rafa Benitez issues defiant Richarlison response as PSG transfer rumours intensify

Rafa Benitez has issued a defiant response to rumours linking Richarlison with a potential transfer away from Everton this summer.

Reports over recent days from some outlets have suggested that Paris Saint-Germain could be interested in the Brazil international if they were to sell Kylian Mbappe before deadline day.

Real Madrid have been strongly linked with the France superstar and are rumoured to have made numerous bids, having reportedly held an interest in Richarlison themselves earlier in the window.

However, Benitez has confirmed that Everton are not looking to sell the 24-year-old before transfer deadline day comes around on Tuesday.

The boss told his pre-Brighton press conference: "We are not considering selling him [Richarlison].

"He is our player, we are really pleased with him, really happy. Hopefully he can score a lot of goals this year for us."

Richarlison is not the only Everton player who has had multiple transfer rumours centred around him recently, with Moise Kean also falling under that category.

Speaking more generally about the speculation surrounding certain members of his squad, Benitez was more coy about the immediate situation.

The boss is only focussing on working with the players currently at his disposal as he prepares for Saturday's trip to Brighton.

"Obviously we have some players that people know that they are good players," the Blues manager added.

"There are rumours about this, but this speculation is something you [journalists] have to do because you need to give information to the fans.

"But for us, coaches, we have to concentrate on what we have. And, at the moment, we have our players here - we have an important game against Brighton and we will do our best to make sure we're ready, that's it."
