Rafa Benitez 'in frame' for Celtic job to take over from Neil Lennon

Rafa Benitez is 'in the frame' to become Celtic's new manager, according to a report.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss is out of work after quitting Chinese Super League club Dalian Pro.

And the Daily Mirror claim he has now emerged as a candidate to replace Neil Lennon at Parkhead as the Northern Irishman's position is under threat.

Celtic are 23 points behind Premiership league leaders Rangers after their dominant 5-0 win over Ross County with the Hoops set to come up short in their Ten in a Row bid.

Benitez left his £12million-a-year job in China and has a wealth of experience, managing Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Napoli and Valencia.

Popular bookie Betfair suspended betting on Benitez to become the next Celtic manager on Saturday night just hours after he left his role.

The ex-Newcastle boss was previously rumoured to replace Brendan Rodgers before Neil Lennon was appointed permanently in the summer of 2019.

Benitez was priced at 10/1 to be Lennon's successor but has now been backed into odds-on money.

Eddie Howe is still the favourite for the job after Paddy Power suspended bets after his price tumbled down to 1/10 on Thursday night.
