Rafa Benitez gives mixed injury update on Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Richarlison is hoping to be fit for the visit of Watford but Everton boss Rafa Benitez is less confident on Dominic Calvert-Lewin's chances.

The absence of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin was keenly felt against West Ham United at Goodison on Sunday as the Blues failed to convert a string of crosses.

West Ham settled the game with an Angelo Ogbonna header to inflict a second league defeat of the season on Everton.

Benitez will hope to react with a victory over Watford at Goodison next weekend, where he hopes Richarlison will have fully recovered from a knee problem which has kept him out of the last four league games.

Calvert-Lewin's chances of being fit after a broken toe, however, are slimmer.

"I think Richarlison is closer, Dominic will take longer but Richarlison is getting closer," Benitez confirmed.

He added: “The fact we were winning without Richarlison or Dominic means we could do it the same but when you play against a good team and you have some chances you have to take them and if not you have to carry on.

"Missing these players you have less chance to change ad put fresh legs on.

"When you play against a good team it is more obvious it is a problem but still we were winning and we have to keep on winning."
