Rafa Benitez 'declines talks' with Marseille and Roma amid Celtic speculation

Rafa Benitez has reportedly declined talks with Marseille and Roma as he focuses on agreeing a new deal at Newcastle United .

The Toon boss, out of contract next month, has yet to agree fresh terms with the Premier League club and has held protracted discussions with owner Mike Ashley.

According to the Chronicle , the Spaniard's priority is agreeing an extension at St James' Park and he "politely declined" to speak to the French and Italian giants.

Benitez has been consistently linked with the Celtic manager's job and features among the bookies' favourites.

He's as low as 6/4 with one outlet but appears to be edging closer to a renewal on Tyneside.

The former Liverpool boss is believed to have a contract on the table that requires "finer details" being agreed.

It's reported that talks could even stretch into next week between Newcastle and Benitez' representatives.

David Moyes ' odds on becoming Brendan Rodgers' permanent successor have dropped, with the Scot now as low as 8/11.

He's previously admitted his interest in the job, having been out of the game since leaving West Ham United in 2018.

Neil Lennon's odds are drifting despite the prospect of delivering an unprecedented treble Treble.

Celtic take on Hearts in Saturday's Scottish Cup Final where victory seal a third successive domestic clean sweep.

It is unclear whether the Glasgow City Council is authentic.
