RAF to secure 400 jobs in Edinburgh and Fife as Typhoons land £317 million investment

The UK Defence Minister Jeremy Quin has announced that £317 million is to be invested into revamping RAF Typhoons with all the latest technology.

The new contract which was confirmed today (3 September) will secure 600 jobs in total across the UKwith 400 of these in Edinburgh and Fife.

BAE Systems and Leonardo who has been awarded the government contract which will be undertaken by more than 300 skilled workers in Edinburgh and 100 in Dunfermline.

The radar development programme is hoped to equip their Typhoon aircrafts with the 'latest technology to counter emerging threats from our adversaries.'

Defence Minister Jeremy Quin said: "It is vital that our Armed Forces are equipped with the latest technology to counter emerging threats from our adversaries.

"Today we announce the investment in the latest in radar technology for our fighter jets and pioneering new defence systems to counter threats from drones.
