- UK fighter jets successfully intercepted a drone that was heading towards Bahrain overnight, the Ministry of Defence revealed.
- In a post on X, the MoD also said it took out an unscrewed aerial system in defence of Jordan.
- The full read: “Overnight, RAF Typhoon jets successfully took out an unscrewed aerial system in defence of Jordan and successfully intercepted a drone that was heading in the direction of Bahrain. The UK has also begun conducting defensive air sorties in support of the United Arab Emirates.”
- It added that the UK has deployed additional air operations experts to the Gulf to ensure “an accurate air picture across the region and assisting partners with airspace management”.
- Further Wildcat helicopters have arrived in Cyprus to support defensive operations in the region, while a Merlin helicopter has arrived in theatre to further strengthen the UK’s ability to detect aerial threats.
