Raekwon McMillan: “We’re getting used to the Florida heat”

If you didn’t realize, the Miami Dolphins have one of the most potent home field advantages in all of football. The reason why? It’s not necessarily courtesy of the fans, but rather Mother Nature. This team should never be lacking in conditioning, relative to the vast majority of the teams across the NFL.

The Dolphins have opened up their doors for practices and it is already hot in South Florida. It’s just a few days into April and the Dolphins are running around in nearly 80 degree temperature. or as Raekwon McMillan referred to it, the Florida heat.

McMillan stopped in with the Dolphins podcast “The Audible” to talk about mixing it up with the rest of his teammates and was quick to reference the climate.

“We’re just getting out there, getting a little sweat in man. Getting used to the Florida heat and getting used to the guys who are around now.”

The faces may be new, but this heat sure isn’t for tenured Dolphins. For example, the Cleveland Browns also opened up their facility on April 1st. But instead of high 70s, the Browns were met with low 50s.

The Dolphins, in their push back to relevancy, will have another weapon in their back pocket: the heat. And while it may take them a while to be ready to weaponize it again, it’s always going to be a factor.
