Teesside radio presenter Simon Bolton died on Christmas Eve after being taken into hospital with coronavirus.
The 54-year-old broadcaster had worked on Zetland FM since it was launched in 2015.
Simon's wife Joanne said her husband, who is dad to Leyla, 16, was taken into James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough on Wednesday after testing positive for covid-19, reports Teeside Live.
The 43-year-old legal secretary said he passed away suddenly on Friday and they are currently unsure as to how he died.
Joanne, who has been married to Simon since 2004, said: "He was well-known by people. He had a good gob on him, he could talk for England!
"He kept himself in the know, especially with the Boro and music.

"Being a radio presenter was what he wanted to do. Radio Revivals was his passion. It was the stuff that never got played and that's what he preferred."
After suffering health problems, including having his leg amputated, much-loved broadcaster Simon produced his radio show from his home in Redcar.
The news brings further sadness to Zetland FM, after radio presenter Julie Donaldson died after contracting coronavirus last October.
On Boxing Day, Zetland FM issued a tribute to their 'colleague and friend.'
They posted on social media: "It's with great sadness that we bring you the news that our Zetland FM colleague and friend Simon Bolton has died.
"Simon passed away on Christmas Eve after a very short illness.
"Simon was a part of Zetland FM since our launch in 2015 and presented many programmes on-air, including our Monday sports show, weekend breakfast, and the Friday rock show."

They continued: "His favourite band was The Beatles, and whenever was on air he would always try to squeeze a track from them into his show.
"Simon will be hugely missed by all his colleagues, friends and listeners at Zetland FM and we send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Joanne, daughter Leyla, family and friends."
In October last year, the radio station lost another of their presenters.

Julie Donaldson, who presented the 'Morning Mix', died following a tough battle against coronavirus.
The 50-year-old spent several weeks in intensive care at James Cook University Hospital before losing her life.
A statement shared on Zetland FM's Facebook at the time read: "Today, Julie's husband John has been in touch with some terribly sad news: "I am devastated to have to write that Julie died this morning shortly after 5am.
"She was admitted to hospital earlier this month and put up an incredibly brave fight to combat this terrible disease.
"In the end her heart simply could not cope with the strain which her deteriorating lungs were placing on it.
"The doctors and nurses in ICU were exceptional and were all so supportive and went the extra mile to comfort her when she most needed it.
"I would also like to thank all her friends on Facebook for your kind words and encouragement, I know this has helped her enormously."
