Radio DJs Jagger and Woody's broadcast future revealed after their breakfast show was axed

DJ duo Jagger and Woody have been announced as the new drive time presenters on Heart FM, just months after it was revealed they were being axed from their long-running breakfast slot at the station.

The pair's future had looked uncertain back in February when Heart's parent company Global revealed their morning show - so beloved of commuters on their way to work and mums and dads on the school run - would be replaced by centralised content from London.

The move - which Global hopes will help it offer credible competition to the likes of BBC Radio One and Two in the battle for the airwaves - enraged many fans, with some even starting up a petition to keep them on the air .

The "operational restructuring" also affected morning broadcast of Polly James and Matt Lissack on Capital and Gary King on Smooth Radio.

However, after Jagger already tweeted he would be staying in Wales following the shake up - adding "that's all I can say at this stage" - he and Woody (real names - Simon Jagger and Chris Wood) have now had their new 4pm-7pm weekday slot officially confirmed.

Highlights from the Capital FM Breakfast Show

The show will be broadcast to listeners in South Wales from from Monday June 3, while DJ duties in North Wales will be handled by Megan Llŷn and Oli Kemp.

Meanwhile, current drive time host, Kevin Hughes, has a new Saturday show, from 1pm to 4pm.

Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden will take over as co-hosts of a new nationwide Heart breakfast show from the same date and they'll be joined by singer and TV personality Ashley Roberts, who will act as the programme's resident showbiz expert.
