Radio 2's Zoe Ball forced to issue on air apology as Gogglebox star swears repeatedly

BBC's Zoe Ball has been forced to issue an apology after guests from Channel 4's Gogglebox swore not once, but three times live on air.

Gogglebox favourite Lee Riley caused chaos on Zoe Ball's BBC Radio 2 show when he accidentally let the swear words slip on Wednesday's show (March 8).

Appearing alongside on-screen partner Jenny Newby, the TV icons were celebrating Gogglebox's 10th anniversary and discussing highlights from the show when Lee made the blunder.

After a clip was played from one of the Channel 4 episodes, the pair were asked to identify what episode it was from and what programme or film they were reacting to.

After one clip was played, Lee responded: "Oh yeah that was that green sh**."

Soon as he realised what he had said, he followed it up with: "Oh s***, I said s***, sorry."

Host Zoe was forced to jump in and apologise to listeners as she said: "Sorry for the language."

Zoe then teased Lee as she told him she'd had former Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher on the show, and he had managed to get through it without swearing. She joked: "Lee it’s ok, we’ll just say sorry, sorry for the language, Jenny, stop laughing.

"If it's going to be anyone [who swears] let it be Lee from Gogglebox."

Luckily listeners found the commotion hilarious as they tweeted in to the show. One listener wrote: "CREASING AT LEE FROM GOGGLEBOX SAYING S**T ON RADIO 2."

Another agreed, as they tweeted: "Absolutely loved them this morning."

"Loved listening to them this morning," said a third.

Jenny and Lee returned to Channel 4 last month as the new series of Gogglebox saw the TV favourites reacting to TV programmes from Lee's caravan in Hull.

Fellow Gogglebox stars returned to the series too including sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner, sibling duo Pete and Sophie Sandiford, Manchester family the Malones and Bradford's Siddiqui family.

Lee and Jenny also celebrated Gogglebox as it marks its tenth year, as Lee posted to social media to praise the BAFTA winning show. Alongside a video of the pair having a drink to celebrate, Lee wrote: "Hi everyone, we would just like to wish all the families on Gogglebox - past and present, from the chief execs, to the PD's, to the runners - happy birthday. Ten years of Gogglebox today."

Jenny then chimed in: "And to the families who make it Gogglebox."
