Radio 1's Big Weekend is back on as a virtual festival

Radio 1's Big Weekend is back on - online at least.

The festival was due to be held in Dundee over the late May bank holiday weekend, headlined by Dua Lipa and Harry Styles.

But organisers pulled the plug on the event in March, shortly before the lockdown was ordered.

Now they've announced it will be going ahead as a virtual event instead.

Anne Marie, Biffy Clyro, Rita Ora, Sam Smith, Young T & Bugsey are among the acts who'll be performing brand new sets especially for the festival.

'Many more' acts will also be announced soon across five virtual stages, including the Radio 1 Stage, Radio 1 Dance Stage, 1Xtra Stage and BBC Introducing Stage.

There'll also be the Headliner Stage, celebrating past performances from the likes of Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and many more previous acts.

The virtual Big Weekend takes place from May 22 to 24. Fans can listen all weekend on BBC Sounds and watch selected performances on BBC iPlayer.

So dig out your wellies, drag your laptop into the garden and pour yourself a warm cider for the full festival experience.
