Radio 1 DJ's son on drug deal charge as police raid a car near his home

The grown-up son of veteran BBC DJ Trevor Nelson faces drug-dealing charges.

Miles Nelson, who as a youngster proudly joined his dad at Buckingham Palace when he was awarded an MBE, was arrested after police found a haul of Class A and other drugs in a car and raided a nearby home.

Officers from the Met Task Force posted a picture of the drugs found in the car on Twitter.

Miles, 27, is due to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court, east London, next month on two drug-dealing charges – possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply – and one further count of possession of criminal property.

The drugs he is alleged to have handled are not specified on the charge sheet.

His father Trevor, 55, who also has a daughter two years older than Miles, joined Radio 1 in 1996 after starting his DJ career on Kiss FM when it was still a pirate station.

He now has a Saturday slot on Radio 1Xtra and presents Rhythm Nation on Radio 2.

His dad Trevor, is an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and Millennium Volunteers (PA)

He is an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and Millennium Volunteers, an initiative encouraging young people  to get involved in voluntary work.

That resulted in him being awarded his MBE, and Miles was nine when he joined his father at the palace in 2002.
