Radford FC v Kimberley Miners Welfare match report

Radford played out a 0-0 draw with Kimberley Miners Welfare as they slipped to seventh in the East Midlands Counties League.

They came up against an in-form Kimberley side who had picked up eight points from their last four games with new signing Jordan Smith scoring nine goals in the process.

The Pheasants struggled to create opportunities in the first-half with their best chance coming on 10 minutes.

Ryan Smith turned and shot from the edge of the box but his effort was easily collected by Jake Wood in the Kimberley goal.

The visitors went closer to breaking the deadlock on 34 minutes as Jordan Smith went through on goal but he could only hook his shot past debutant keeper Warren Squires and wide of the post.

The second-half began with Kimberley nearly going ahead as Matt Hopewell made a great block on the line to stop a certain goal from Jordan Smith.

Errol Campbell nearly put the Pheasants ahead on 53 minutes but he failed to steer his shot goalwards from a Conor Moore cross.

It was Campbell again on 68 minutes who went closest to finding the decisive goal but his shot that went past keeper Jake Wood couldn’t reach the goal and was cleared away.

Both sides continued in their search of a winning goal but it never arrived and they had to settle for their first 0-0 draws of the season.

Radford will look to return to winning ways and get back into the promotion places when they are next in action on Saturday as they take on West Bridgford at the Regatta Way Sports Ground.
