Racist yob called police officer Jackie Chan in rammy at Scots hospital

A yob has admitted racially abusing a cop at Paisley’s main hospital by calling him Jackie Chan.

James Deighan made the remark to PC Steve Chan during a racist rammy at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Deighan, 30, compared the officer to the Hong Kong-born Hollywood legend, 67, during a barrage of insults.

He lost the plot, becoming so out of control that he was arrested for two public order offences.

At Paisley Sheriff Court this week, he pleaded guilty to two charges over the February 20 incident.

He admitted behaving in an aggressive manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing and threatening violence.

And he pleaded guilty to acting “in a racially aggravated manner which caused or was intended to cause alarm or distress” to PC Chan.

The charge states that he acted in an aggressive manner, repeatedly shouted and made racial remarks, while on bail over four other Paisley Sheriff Court cases.

His not guilty pleas were accepted to charges of breaking bail conditions by being in a street he was banned from entering, and vandalism by damaging a window with a wooden brush.

The case, which was one of ten Deighan appeared in the dock over, was heard in private as he is subject to a Drug Treatment and Testing Order imposed over other offences.

Sheriff Lindsey Kooner deferred sentence until later this week for the case to be dealt with.

Chan, who is famous for his martial arts expertise and slapstick comedy, began his film career in the 1970s, and he appeared as a stuntman in Bruce Lee films Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon.

He then embarked on a successful Hollywood career which saw him star in films such as Shanghai Noon, the Rush Hour series, and the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid.
