Racist tweet sent to Lewis Grabban following Leeds United draw being investigated by police

Police have launched an investigation after an alleged racist tweet was sent to Nottingham Forest striker Lewis Grabban.

The forward, who is a Muslim, scored a scruffy equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road, which was marred by a number of controversial moments and feisty challenges.

Following the match, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that they are looking into a tweet directed at the Forest goalscorer which allegedly contained racist content.

A tweet sent to Grabban appeared to show the 31-year-old wearing a suicide vest.

The Midlands force also confirmed that they will be working directly with West Yorkshire Police's dedicated Leeds United taskforce throughout their enquiries.

PC Simon Travell, of Nottinghamshire Police, tweeted to say: "I’ve been made aware of a Racist Tweet mentioning Lewis Grabban.

"I will be liaising with @LUFC_WYP  to assist them where possible in their enquiries. Thank you once again. #KickItOut"
