Racist told man 'get back to your own country' before abusing another on Edinburgh train

A foul-mouthed racist told a man to "get back to your own country" before also abusing another passenger on an Edinburgh train last week.

The incident happened some time between 2pm and 2.20pm on Thursday, 11 July on a journey between Waverley and Galashiels.

Transport police say that the suspect became racially abusive to another man, using racially charged swearing saying "get back to your own country".

The victim was with his daughter at the time and when they left the train at Galashiels the abuse continued, resulting in a scuffle.

Police say that the suspect was also seen racially abusing another man on the train, which left Edinburgh at 1.24pm.

He is described as being white, of medium build with short dark brown hair. He was unshaven and wearing a t-shirt, and oversized blue hoodie with a zip and dark trousers and trainers.

Officers are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the incidents, and are especially keen to hear from the second man who was racially abused.
