Racist graffiti has been discovered outside a house in South Belfast.
A family's home saw its wall defaced with graffiti in an act which police believe was racially motivated.
The wall reads "local only" in graffiti on the wall outside a family's home in Locksley Gardens.
The graffiti has been condemned by South Belfast councillor Kate Nichol, who said on Twitter: "Was advised earlier of some racist graffiti in Finaghy - I’ve been in touch with the Council & the PSNI & it will be removed soon.
"I wish it were as simple to remove such hateful, narrow minded callousness - there is a lot of work needed to tackle racism in Northern Ireland."
Police released a statement regarding the incident today:
"Police have received a report regarding racist graffiti which had been daubed on a wall at a house in the Finaghy area during the early morning hours of Saturday June 27.
Inspector Nigel Loughlin said: "We believe this act of racially motivated criminal damage was carried out sometime between midnight and 2am.
"Officers have been in the area carrying out enquiries and it is clear that the person behind this disgraceful act has absolutely no support in this community."
