Racist graffiti in East Belfast condemned by local councillor

Racist graffiti in East Belfast has been branded "disgusting" by a local councillor.

Green Party councillor Anthony Flynn has reported a series of racist graffiti found on Nevis Avenue, off the Newtownards Road over the weekend to Belfast City Council.

The graffiti features racist and anti-semitic slogans and symbols.

The councillor said as soon as he discovered the graffiti he reported it to be cleaned as soon as possible saying "there is no place in East Belfast for hatred".

Councillor Flynn said: "The graffiti was reported to me by a constituent and I immediately informed the council to have it removed as soon as possible.

"The vast majority in our communities don’t want to see such disgusting racism & xenophobia in their area, there is no place in East Belfast for hatred and I utterly condemn those who would spread such dangerous rhetoric."

Belfast City Council has been contacted for comment, but not responded at the time of publication.
