RACING was a big winner at the Sports Business Awards on Wednesday, with the Jockey Club and Sky Sports Racing emerging victorious at the virtual ceremony.
The sport faced stiff competition at the event, hosted by sports broadcaster Hazel Irvine, with football’s Premier League, the Cricket World Cup and Wimbledon tennis all represented.
But Jockey Club Services landed the Best Business Serving Sport award, while the prize for Best In Sports Media went to Sky Sports Racing - At The Races.
The Jockey Club’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Scott Bowers said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition for the team’s hard work.
“Jockey Club Services was set up to help support the wider sports industry by sharing the expertise, knowledge and operational services which the Jockey Club has built up.
“We’re proud to work with those in cricket, rugby, athletics and many other sports to help them deliver their events and operate in the most productive way possible.”
Sky Sports Racing Chief Executive Matthew Imi said: “At The Races transitioned to Sky Sports Racing on January 1 last year - it seems a long time again now! - and we’re delighted to have won this award.
“It’s a great team effort - we work closely with Sky Sports and it’s testament to the effort and professionalism of our production and digital teams, who have worked hard to bring racing to a wider audience.”
