Racing Post use iconic Michael Jordan 'I'm back' fax to announce print return after shutdown

The Racing Post has invoked Michael Jordan’s legendary ‘I’m back.’ memo to confirm its return to print publication following the coronavirus shutdown.

With British and Irish racing suspended because of the pandemic, the sport’s trade paper halted production of its print edition for the first-time in its 34-year history in March, while continuing digital operations.

However, the British Horseracing Authority is hoping to return to action behind closed doors on June 1, while the Irish government have given the green light for the sport’s comeback on June 8.

The RP tweeted to announce its own print return from the former date:

The message is inspired by Jordan, who announced his return to the Chicago Bulls in 1985 with the iconic two-word statement via fax.

The NBA superstar had turned to baseball after initially retiring from basketball in 1993 following the Bulls' third Championship win and the tragic murder of his father, a series of events explored in ESPN’s hit series The Last Dance, which was released in March.
