Racing fans have laugh at Ed Chamberlin's pronunciation of Thurles on televised horse racing coverage

With horse racing in the UK suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, ITV 4 and Virgin Media 2 showed a number of races from Thurles on Saturday afternoon.

Racing is still taking place in Ireland behind closed doors for the time being and the Tipperary track hosted a seven-race card.

Top English presenter Ed Chamberlin struggled to pronounce Thurles throughout the broadcast and punters were quick to notice and have a laugh at his expense.

One Twitter user posted: "Ed Chamberlin says he’s been learning how to pronounce Thurles over the last 24 hours. He hasn’t cracked it yet."

Another said: "Will someone tell Ed Chamberlain how to pronounce Thurles."

Someone else commented: "Ed Chamberlains pronunciation of Thurles is brilliant."

Paddy Power tweeted: "Ah, a mere ten second into ITV coverage and Ed Chamberlin has unfortunately got the pronunciation of Thurles wrong. Someone set him right. I'm looking at you, @mickfitzg."
