Rachel Wake's former husband, Darren, pleads not guilty to Christmas Day stabbing murder

A Hobart man accused of stabbing his former wife on Christmas Day, 2021, has pleaded not guilty.

Darren Mark Wake appeared in the Hobart Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning via video link.

Rachel Wake, 52, a mother of two children, was stabbed at a house in the eastern shore suburb of Mornington on Christmas afternoon.

When police arrived at the house, Ms Wake was still alive, with serious stab wounds to her upper chest.

She died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Ms Wake's former husband was arrested at the scene and charged with murder later that night.

Police said two teenage children, who were in the house at the time, were not physically injured.

Mr Wake will be remanded in custody and will reappear in the Hobart Supreme Court on January 30, 2023.
