Joshua, of Ballynamona in Shanagary in Co Cork took up MMA recently in a bid to turn his life around after several brushes with the law over drug offences.

Currently, he is appealing a two month prison sentence he received in September for possession of drugs.

He was allegedly caught with €280 of cocaine just five weeks after he was released from Cork Prison after serving time for having €22,000 worth of cannabis for sale or supply at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork.

He had pleaded not guilty to possessing the cocaine but was convicted in September. Immediately after the sentence was handed down he lodged an appeal. The appeal is to be heard at a later date.

Joshua has six previous convictions, all for drug offences arising from a single incident two years ago.
