Fresh from winning the Grand National, Rachael Blackmore was in the winners' enclosure again at Fairyhouse this evening.
The Tipperary jockey has become a household name after bagging five winners at the Cheltenham Festival last month before steering Minella Times to victory in last weekend's Aintree Grand National - the first time a female rider has won the historic race.
But the 31-year-old was back to work at Fairyhouse today and after hitting the crossbar with her first four rides on the card, she rode 5/1 shot Somptueux to win the Follow Fairyhouse Rated Novice Steeplechase.
It is a winner that leaves her nine short of Paul Townend in the race to be this season's champion jump jockey. But Willie Mullins' stable jockey Townend is currently sidelined with an injury, so Blackmore could erode into his lead in the coming weeks.
The race for the jockey's title will finish at the Punchestown Festival concluding on May 1.
Blackmore is likely to have a stellar book of rides over the week including the likes of Honeysuckle, Minella Indo and Bob Olinger.
