Rachael Blackmore aiming to strike it rich again at Punchestown

Rachael Blackmore is aiming to create history and end the season on a high at the Punchestown Festival this week.

The Tipperary rider has already earned over €1 million in winnings this year and hopes to add to her success at the Cheltenham Festival, where she was the leading jockey and her Grand National victory at Aintree.

Following her six winners at the Cheltenham Festival, Blackmore is 9/4 to be leading jockey at the Kildare track. She is 11/10 to pick up four or more Grade 1 wins this week and 12/1 to secure five or more.

Blackmore is 4/6 to follow up her Cheltenham Champions Hurdle win with victory at the Paddy Power Punchestown Champion Hurdle onboard the unbeaten Honeysuckle.

The 31-year-old currently trails Paul Townend by four wins in the pursuit to become Irish Champion Jockey, but a successful outing at Punchestown could see her become the first female rider to secure the crown.

The rivalry continues tomorrow when the two meet in the Champion Chase where Townend rides Chacun Pour Soi (5/4) and Blackmore boards Allaho (13/8).

The pair meet again in the Champion Novice Chase where Blackmore and Envoi Allen (6/5) take on Townend and Monkfish (Evens).

Spokesperson Paddy Power said: "Rachael Blackmore's season in the saddle has been nothing short of spectacular but while she may have smashed the glass ceiling, there are still more records to be broken."
