Australian jockey Zac Lloyd has enjoyed a landmark Royal Ascot winner in front of the King and Queen, earning victory for English trainer George Boughey at the showpiece race meeting with a superb ride on Moonfall to take the Britannia Stakes.
On a day when Ireland's master trainer Aidan O'Brien took most of the plaudits by saddling his 100th winner at the Royal meeting in the Ascot Gold Cup, 22-year-old Lloyd held his nerve in the mile-long race to earn his maiden win in the biggest week-long event on the British racing calendar.
The Sydney-based Lloyd has flown thousands of miles to enjoy a summer spell in the UK, mainly riding for Boughey, and he was responsible for steering home the Newmarket trainer's second winner of the week in the colours of the late Sheikh Mohammed Obaid.
