Race Across the World: Welsh contestant scolds partner for 'horrible' comment as competition nears end

Welsh fans of BBC series Race Across the World have been rooting for best friends Cathie and Tricia ever since they set out on their Canadian adventure. The beginning of episode seven, the penultimate episode of the series, sees them making their way out of Quebec City.

Despite starting the episode in last place, the duo quickly gain an advantage over their fellow teams after getting the last two tickets on a bus to New Brunswick. Upon setting off, they spot father and daughter Ladi and Monique, who were unable to secure bus tickets.

“Shall we go and wave them goodbye?” Tricia quipped and Cathie quickly shut her down saying: “No! Absolutely not. That’s horrible.” Tricia then added: “Quite funny, though” and Cathie looked unimpressed.

Cathie, 49, is a pharmacist from Bridgend and her best friend Tricia, 48, is from Devon. Cathie previously told WalesOnline that she was convinced to go on the show by her friend.

“When Trish suggested Race Across the World, I hadn’t seen the programme and just said, ‘Yeah that sounds like really good fun’," she revealed. "Then I watched series one and two and it was just incredible! I loved the concept and I thought that the idea of teams racing against each other was brilliant. When we were chosen to do it, it was just a huge thrill to be involved in something like that.”

Race Across the World: The Final airs on BBC One next Wednesday, May 10 at 9pm on BBC One. For the latest TV and showbiz news sign up to our newsletter here.
