Rabbi Matondo teases Rangers return after spell on sidelines

The Rangers Review reported in July that the Welshman was due to have a minor procedure on his knee over the summer.

Matondo has yet to feature for the club under new head coach Russell Martin.

On Friday, Matondo posted a picture of himself celebrating a goal on his Instagram story, captioned with a sand timer emoji, appearing to tease his return after a spell on the sidelines.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at German outfit Hannover 96 from Rangers.

Matondo played 10 times for the club, scoring one goal along the way.

Boss Martin has the likes of Oliver Antman, Djeidi Gassama, Mikey Moore and Findlay Curtis available to him in the wide areas, with Oscar Cortes completing a late summer loan exit to second-tier Spanish side Sporting Gijon.

Rangers return to action after the international break next weekend when they welcome Heart of Midlothian to Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership

A Premier Sports Cup quarter-final tie then lies in wait seven days later against Hibernian, also at Ibrox, before Martin's men kick off their Europa League campaign with a home game against Genk.
