New signing Rabbi Matondo has vowed to "create history" at Rangers as he arrives at Ibrox on a four-year deal.
The Wales winger arrives from Schalke after an impressive season on loan at Cerle Brugge, with Gers paying around £2.5m for his services. A former Manchester City prospect, he arrived at Schalke for a fee north of £10m in 2019, but struggled to break into the first-team with a series of loans showcasing his talents.
He struggled at Stoke City in the second half of 2020/21, but last season he was at his best with ten goals in 27 appearances in the Belgian top flight. And the 21-year-old has been given the chance to further revive his career at Ibrox under Gio van Bronckhorst, with his long-awaited transfer confirmed earlier today.
Speaking to Rangers TV, he vowed to create history in front of the "amazing" Ibrox faithful. He said: "I'm absolutely buzzing to have signed for a club as big as Rangers. I'm just looking forward to getting on the pitch at Ibrox in front of the amazing fans. I'm so excited.
"It's a big club with massive history and I just want to create more history and memories here at the club. I just felt like this was the right step to take for my next path."
Matondo arrives as Van Bronckhorst's fourth signing of the summer, with John Souttar arriving on a pre-contract agreement from Hearts while Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence penned deals in recent days. He arrives as extra reinforcement in the forward areas after Joe Aribo's move to Southampton.
