Raave Tapes drop new take on social conscience

DUO: Raave Tapes.

BELOVED Newcastle electro-indie duo Raave Tapes unleashed the first slice off their next EP on Thursday with the track How Long Did Urs Take.

The distorted electro banger is sonically rooted in the sound of the late 2000s when bands like The Presets dominated, but carries a very modern message of being socially aware of your own behaviour and actions.

"It's not only a self-reflection, but a call to consider how much more all of us could be actively doing to change behaviours, thoughts and the balance of what's happening around us," Raave Tapes founding member Joab Eastley said.

Raave Tapes, which also features bassist and vocalist Lindsay O'Connell, last released new music in November in the single Habitual. But in the meantime the duo have been busy recording material to follow their second EP Dancing Because I'm Sad in 2019.

To celebrate the release of How Long Did Urs Take and its video, directed by Maya Launa (Clews, Vacations), Raave Tapes will play shows at Melbourne's The Leadbeater (August 13), Hidden Lanes in Brisbane (August 14) and at the Vanguard in Sydney (August 20).
