One of Scotland's newest distilleries which is located on one of its smallest islands is finally coming of age with a special virtual tasting to celebrate the launch of its first ever whisky.
The first legally distilled Scotch whisky from Raasay will be ready next month, with Isle of Raasay Distillery co-founder Alasdair Day set to host a special virtual tasting live from the distillery on September 17th.
The tasting will feature no less than six specially selected cask-strength whiskies from the young distillery.
It's been three years since the distillery first officially opened on 17th September in 2017 and now to celebrate the creation of their first ever whisky, the tasting will guide whisky fans through the unique six-part maturation of their forthcoming signature Isle of Raasay Single Malt.
As well as a space on the tasting, guests will receive a tasting pack with their £40 ticket which will hold six 50ml cask strength samples – including peated and unpeated Isle of Raasay spirit with three distinct cask types – Rye whiskey, Chinkapin Oak and Bordeaux red wine casks.
Their signature single malt, which will be released in 2021, will combine all of these individual elements.
It's been a long journey for co-founders Alasdair Day and Bill Dobbie who first announced their plans in 2017 stating that the little island off the coast of Skye was "ideal for our innovative Scotch whisky distillery".
Since then they've successfully built their distillery as well as providing accommodation on the island and even launching a gin.
