AERIAL drills are slated to begin over Salt Ash's air weapons range on Wednesday, with up to four lead-in fighters expected to soar over the area.
The Royal Australian Air Force confirmed the Hawk aircraft would begin drills between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with up to two aircraft in the air at any time.
The planes are due to fly no lower than 640 metres.
The Number 76 Squadron air crews are training to update their close air support skills, which involve medium-level flying using night vision goggles.
Number Four Squadron joint terminal attack controllers will also be part of the training to sharpen their skills in operations under cover of darkness.
"Air Force has a responsibility to ensure personnel are ready and able to deploy at short notice and this involves necessary night-time close air support training to be employed," the Australian Defence Force said in a statement.
"Residents should note that the date and time for this activity are subject to variables such as weather and operational availability, and may change."
