Born in Jamshedpur, Bihar, into a Tamil family, R. Madhavan was raised in a disciplined and achievement-oriented environment. His father, Ranganathan, worked as a management executive at Tata Steel, while his mother, Saroja, was employed as a manager at the Bank of India.
