R Kelly is reportedly not fussed that musicians are pulling their collaborations from streaming services in the wake of the damning documentary that addresses multiple allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct against him.
According to TMZ, the R&B singer is “more concerned” with filing a lawsuit against Lifetime for airing Surviving R Kelly and has dismissed these artists, including Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, as “phonies”.
Kelly is said to be meeting with his lawyers daily and “seems crazed about getting revenge”. He has denied all allegations.
Following the broadcast of the documentary, which featured testimonies from a number of women who accused the star of sexual assault, Lady Gaga pulled their 2013 collaboration from Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal.
Chance the Rapper and French group Phoenix have also issued an apology for working with him in the past and called their collaboration “a mistake”.
The former said: “I made a mistake and I'm happy that those women are getting voices now,” he continued. “I can grow to understand better what my positioning should be or should've been when that opportunity came.”
Celine Dion is the latest star to distance herself from Kelly, pulling their 1998 Grammy-nominated duet “I’m Your Angel” from the internet.
