The name R Kelly might spark mass sing-alongs to hits like "Ignition" and "Bump & Grind" but you ain't heard nothing yet until his new country song drops.

That's right, the RnB singer has gone all early days Taylor Swift on us and we can expect to hear his effort on new album Buffett, which at first included a ridiculous 462 songs. So, erm, why?

"There is one country song on the album. I'm not doing all these different genres of songs just to do them. This is all the different types of music I loved growing up," Kelly told Entertainment Weekly.

"For example, I've always said I'd love to do a blues song. I love blues. My grandfather did blues. I always loved country because country music tells stories and I love telling stories as well."

Most derogatory lyrics from Snoop Dogg to Robin Thicke

Basically, Kelly just wants to show us all "just what [he] can do musically" and prove that his artistic talent has no limit.

"I've done 462 songs for this particular album," he confirmed. "They're not ideas, they are whole full songs. I absolutely think that the audience is expecting the sexual R Kelly, the steppin' R Kelly, maybe a bit of the 'I Believe I Can Fly' R Kelly.

"I wanted to cover a lot of different genres and in order to do that you have to do a lot of work."

The follow-up to 2013's Black Panties is scheduled for release on 25 September
