R. Kelly found guilty of racketeering by federal jury in sex trafficking trial

R Kelly has been convicted of racketeering by a federal jury in Brooklyn.

A jury of seven men and five women found Kelly guilty on all counts of racketeering after their second day of deliberations.

The 54-year-old rapper has been convicted in the sex trafficking trial after decades of allegations about sexual misconduct with minors.

He had been charged with racketeering predicated on criminal conduct including sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping, forced labor and Mann Act violations involving the coercion and transportation of women and girls in interstate commerce to engage in illegal sexual activity.

Kelly was also charged with four counts of violating the Mann Act related to his interstate transportation of a victim to New York to engage in illegal sexual activity, and his exposure of her to an infectious venereal disease without her knowledge.

The R&B star was also accused of exploiting his fame to lure women and underage girls for sex.

According to reports, the rapper remained motionless as the verdict was read out before the court.

Jurors began the day by sending the judge a note asking for transcripts of testimony by two former Kelly employees and for a legal clarification.

Kelly had continued to plead not guilty to all charges.

The star was jailed in July and had been awaiting trial for child pornography, the sexual exploitation of children, conspiracy to defraud the US government as well as coercion or enticement of a female.

The Grammy Award winner now faces decades behind bars.

The guilty verdict comes more than 10 years after the musician was acquitted of child pornography charges at an Illinois state trial.
