But Aalegra let it be known that there is only one “Queen Sade.”
In a since-deleted tweet on Thursday, someone wrote this phrase: “Snoh Aalegra is our Sade.”
As a result, thousands of onlookers on Twitter spent a majority of the day discussing and debating on both Aalegra and Sade’s musical talents, for which Aalegra inadvertently faced backlash without doing anything wrong.
Sade fans went on to state that the musical legend is a stand-alone artist who shouldn’t be compared to anyone.
“‘Snoh Aalegra is our Sade’ is insulting to the people are comparing. Now, to say you can hear Sade’s influence on Snoh Aalegra’s music is a completely different thing. That is valid. But Snoh is Snoh and Sade is Sade,” someone wrote.
“People got to stop saying Snoh Aalegra is our generation’s Sade,” wrote another.
Even The Roots member and drummer Questlove commented on the situation, with the following: “Relax. Let Snoh find her path. This is just gonna prompt scrutiny/snark to an artist who [doesn’t] deserve it. besides some photos, the comparison is unfair.”

After seeing her name be the subject of debate, Aalegra took to her Twitter to share nothing but praise for Sade.
“There’s only one Queen Sade Adu. There will never be another one. This comparison I just saw is so unnecessary. It’s not even a debate. Respect the legend, please,” she wrote.
