Quiz: What would you find at these eight Edinburgh locations before Aldi and Lidl arrived?

Recent studies have found that you're never more than 6ft away from an Aldi or Lidl supermarket.

Well, that's not technically true but they do seem to be popping up all over the place at the minute.

Lidl opened its 100th Scottish store at the weekend, in Cowdenbeath, and in recent weeks and months we've reported on plans to open others at Seafield Retail Park and Craigleith Retail Park, while there's also proposals for a new Aldi store in Leith.

Some of these shops have been around for a while now, and others are fresh to our streets and neighbourhoods.

So we thought we'd try a little memory game, and ask if you can remember what was located at these eight Edinburgh-area locations before Aldi and Lidl arrived.

Some are easier than others, but we reckon you should be scoring a solid six out of eight here – at the very least.

Good luck.

Edinburgh Live reported last week how Lidl had put forward plans to open a brand new store at Seafield Retail Park. You can read the full story by clicking here.
