Solutions

1:B - Labour illustrated a tweet promising new bank holidays on the saints' days of George, David, Andrew and Patrick, but used the Republic's flag to illustrate Northern Ireland. As one wag on social media pointed out, fortunately it isn't the kind of place where people get passionate about things such as national identity., 2:A - Johnson posted it to Twitter saying: "Thank you Nicola for the note you passed me on the train today." The letter urged him to: "Channel your inner bulldog to be the leader we need," although it isn't entirely clear how the dog's characteristics of severe breathing difficulties, skin problems, joint problems and dental issues caused by generations of inbreeding are going to help here., 3:C - YouGov claims the model successfully predicted the last hung parliament and the result of the European referendum. It surveys a lot more people than usual, then uses ONS and census data to work out the demographics of each seat, put the two together in a giant spreadsheet, and next thing you know, you've got a predicted Boris Johnson majority of 68., 4:D - The document was available on a UK whistleblower 'sub-reddit'. Immediately after this was discovered, lots of people who hadn't noticed that the document was there suddenly had VERY STRONG OPINIONS about other people who hadn't noticed that the document was there., 5:B - Gove was quoting the lyrics from Stormzy's Shut Up, after Stormzy had endorsed Labour. Gove said Stormzy was a better rapper than political pundit so then Angela Rayner said Gove was bad at both, so then Gove rapped online and yes, life was undoubtedly better before Twitter., 6:A - Swinson treated herself to a cheeky cider while visiting Dunkertons Cider Company, an organic and plastic-free brewery in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. During the course of the campaign she has seen her personal approval rating drop in polls, suggesting that perhaps the British public just eventually really dislike any politician they get exposed to on a regular basis., 7:C - Finucane confirmed that he had accepted a community resolution notice for indecent behaviour from the police after an incident in the centre of Belfast on 29 June, and apologised for his behaviour. During the campaign Finucane, the son of the murdered lawyer Pat Finucane, has been the subject of a targeted poster campaign which Sinn Féin has described as a "hate crime", 8:A - Mercer shared some photos which appeared to show a council worker removing one of his campaign posters. , 9:D - The SNP's idea is that the act would "stipulate that any goods or services that are procured by the NHS must be explicitly prevented from being subject to any future investment protection mechanisms or investor-state dispute resolution mechanisms", which would effectively put it out of bounds for any trade deal. The proposal would also give devolved institutions in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland explicit approval over any future UK-wide trade deals., 10:C - It is the latest Conservative digital campaign wheeze to co-opt internet trends. If we are very, very lucky, by the end of the campaign we may get Liz Truss doing ASMR make-up tutorials on YouTube. , 11:B - "The numbers are crystal clear," as at least two government ministers said this week while arguing about basic arithmetic with breakfast TV presenters. If you hire 31,000 new nurses, and retain 19,000 other nurses, you have 31,000 new nurses. Please don't mention the fact that there are an estimated 40,000 current vacancies for nurses, nobody wants to be doing sums with negative numbers on a Friday. , 12:B - Anderson was caught on camera making the call. He is hoping to take the ultra-marginal constituency of Ashfield. Yes, you do remember his name because it was Anderson last week who was saying problem tenants should be moved to forced labour camps, to live in tents and be made to pick vegetables. No, he isn't having a terribly great campaign so far, is he?, 13:B - The Conservative grandee made an impassioned appeal to people to choose “the national interest” and ignore traditional party loyalties to help elect the Lib Dems through tactical voting. However, when asked, he said he was not advising people to vote Labour tactically., 14:C - Hester Corinna, known as Hettie, was born on Wednesday 27 November at Whipps Cross NHS hospital, weighing in at 7lbs and 1oz. Congratulations to all of you!
