Quiz night in Hamilton to support terminally ill people promises to be a great event

A quiz night to support end of life care charity Marie Curie is being held in Lanarkshire next month.

The dedicated fundraising team will be raising funds to help the organisation's nurses and hospices across Scotland.

The event will be held at Carrigan's Eating House on Birkhill Road in Hamilton on Thursday, September 15.

On the night a fun quiz and raffle will take place with cash prizes, hoping to raise as much money as possible to support local people living with a terminal illness and their families.

Marie Curie report that seven out of 10 carers say that people with a terminal illness do not get all the care and support they need.

And as the UK’s leading charity for people living with any terminal illness, they say this is not good enough.

The quiz night has been organised by the local Marie Curie Hamilton Fundraising Group to support local people living with a terminal illness and their families.

Stephen Pennells from the Hamilton Fundraising Group said: “The Quiz Night promises to be a great night out for everyone across the area.

"There will be something to suit everyone and all the money raised will help Marie Curie care and support people through Respite and all terminal illnesses living throughout Scotland be it at home or in their hospices.”

All money raised from the event will contribute towards providing expert care, guidance and support to help people with a terminal illness, and their families, get the most from the time they have left be it in their houses or in their hospices in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Locally, Marie Curie nurses work night and day, in people’s homes across Scotland, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support, and the Marie Curie hospices in Glasgow Edinburgh offer specialist round-the-clock care.

Marie Curie also supports people throughout their illness by giving practical information, support from trained helper volunteers and being there when someone wants to talk.

The charity is also the leader in research into better ways of caring for people with terminal illness.

The event on September 15 starts at 7pm at Carrigan's, Hamilton.

Admission is £6 per person and tickets can be obtained by phoning Andrea Maxwell-McMaster on 07398 990186, Barbara Harrison on 07904 803067.
