Quiz: Do you have what it takes to be a spelling bee champion?

Karthik Nemmani, a 14-year-old schoolboy from Texas, is $US40,000 richer after winning this year's Scripps Spelling Bee in the United States.

According to his father Krishna, he was able to spell "horse" at the age of 3 and won his first spelling bee at 4.

"I'm just really happy. This has just been a dream come true," Karthik said.
