Quiz: Michael Sheen 'angry' after ITV announcer gets his name wrong before episode 2

Quiz actor Michael Sheen was left “angry” after ITV got his name wrong before the latest episode began.

Sheen plays Chris Tarrant in the three-part series, which follows the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? couching scandal that saw Charles ingram cheat his way to the top prize fund in 2001.

However, the channel’s announcer mistook Sheen for Martin Sheen, the Apocalypse Now and West Wing actor, ahead of the second episode.

“Hey @ITV, the least you can do is get my name right in your trailers FFS,” Sheen tweeted, clearly unimpressed by the blunder.

He mocked the channel’s error by changing his name to Martin Sheen on Twitter, responding to a follower saying: “Very angry indeed!”

The announcer also incorrectly called Matthew Macfadyen, who plays Ingram, James Macfadyen.

TV viewers, including Chris Tarrant’s son, have been praising Sheen’s performance as the presenter in the new series.

“Really enjoyed Quiz tonight, looking forward to the rest of it,” Radio X DJ Toby Tarrant wrote, adding: ”Michael Sheen as expected is brilliant as Dad.”

Both critics and viewers have been praising the series, with The Independent calling it “a brilliant, big-hearted romp through one of the great British scandals of the century” in its five-star review.

Sheen provided a DIY re-enactment of the famous quiz show from lockdown on last week’s episode of The Graham Norton Showleaving viewers in hysterics.
