Quirky new Japanese kitchen Umai opens in Edinburgh's West End selling sushi and ramen

A quirky new Japanese kitchen has opened in Edinburgh selling mouth-watering sushi platters and ramen bowls.

Umai has just opened its doors to patrons last week on Queensferry Street and is perfect if you want to step away from the Nandos and try tucking into some new cuisine.

Inside, the restaurant has a relaxed vibe with Japanese style art hanging on the walls and provides a cosy space to hide away from the capital's winds with a warming bowl of ramen.

But that's not all you can choose from as an extensive menu includes everything from mouth-watering sushi, to tempura scampi rolls and Umai's speciality fried rolls which come with a choice of scrumptious fillings.

One foodie said she ended up here "by accident" and claimed it was the "best sushi I have had In Edinburgh, by far".

She added: "We were welcomed with some green tea which was so nice as I was actually quite cold and the food was just excellent. Really good value, definitely worth trying."

Umai's owners told Edinburgh Live: "We are all about is trying just to make simple, comfy and fresh Japanese food, graciously presented.

"We try to give all this dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere, at a fair price and/with a smile (behind the mask)."
